  2. How lovely you found him! I have been 'in dogs' for over 45 years and having one get lost ahs always beena particular terror. I now rely upon a wonderful Service Dog after an injury. We might be a bit luckier if we ever got separated. He is the best known dog in 3 counties as it is hard to miss a 29" at the shoulder 118 lb snow white long-wavy-haired dog with red backpacks and a leather over-harness. His friends and admirers include nearly every law enforcement oficer in this semi-rural area and the staff of nearly every store around.

He once blew his electric fence and went visiting my neighbors. I didn't realize he was gone until I saw a neighbor walking up the drive with a big white dog dancing along. He hand't gone far - just 2 houses. The funny part was what my neighbor told me. She said she couldn't decide whether to just bring him home or call the EMTs and have them come to the house. She figured that if I had fallen and needed help I would have just turned him loose to go find someone. Other neighbors and the rangers in the US National Park here have said the same thing - that they assume that if he is loose and alone, I am somewhere and need help and they just need to tellhim to take them to me. (Touching assumption as he has never been trianed to go find help!)

Hugs and tummy rubs to your guy!

ANd please everyone don't just leave that cat or dog that looks lost. Get food and try to coax them in. Call for help from the animal officer if you need to but do something.

My retired 18 year Service Dog thanks you on behalf of all strays that need rescued or adopted. She was abandoned by someone and went onto to become a full-fledged Service Dog.
