Hi all - the rain the last few days has me concerned about my Rocky, but when he is home with me in our condo and it's raining outside, he doesn't ever want to go out. He'll stick his snout at the door sniff and turn around. I'll have to drag him out to pee sometimes. Also, on rainy days, he'll hide in the bathroom - sometimes even the bathtub. So while I'm concerned about him being scared, cold, frightened, I know he has found some place he considers "safe" and is waiting this out. I'm sure he will be seen again. Soon.
Another thing is that I have gotten a lot of ideas. I can't execute on all of them, but I am willing to try anything. What I did want to do is start collecting a list of ideas of how we can improve getting the word out about Rocky or anything else. Current suggestions:
- Getting the word out to local schools and colleges, which we have started doing but could use some help from people at the schools in terms of postering for Rocky.
- Contact to vets outside of the general Falls Church area
- Communication to local businesses
Any other thoughts? E-mail me or post in the comments section and I'll keep adding to the list. Thanks again.

Contact dog walkers who operate in Falls Church and asking them to send their dog walkers to the website and then keep an eye out for him while they are walking dogs in the area. I've contacted several who have already said they will do so.
ReplyDeleteThat's all I've got for now but I'll keep thinking. If I have time later today, I will try to compile a list of vets outside the area and local business in the area that maybe we can split up.
I've sent emails to the news channels and crossposted to the rescue groups in the area.
ReplyDeleteWhen our dog was lost years ago, my mom found him by calling pet stores near where he was lost. Are there pet stores in the Lee Hwy/Wash area that could be called/postered? Crazy day--I apologize for not being able to follow through on the idea myself.
ReplyDeleteI would send something to Arlington and Fairfax Police and Fire...they are out roaming the streets all day and night long.
ReplyDeleteYou should really check with the local shelters, too (and post posters there, if they allow it). In theory, a lost pet should be turned over to a shelter / animal control, so if someone managed to grab Rocky but hasn't seen your contact info, they may have taken him straight to a shelter.
ReplyDeleteJust so people know - all local shelters, vets, animal controls, etc. have been contacted numerous times and informed about Rocky. In fact, when I called the Arlington one this morning, all I said was "My dog has been missing since Saturday..." and the women said "Is this about Rocky?".
ReplyDeleteI've posted Rocky's Blog on my facebook page and have asked my daughter (who has many, many, more friends than me) to do the same.
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel. I have had my dog through two husbands, 4 houses and many of life's ups and downs. They're always there. Mystic and I are sending Rocky good thoughts.

My husband and I posted the blog on Facebook and Twitter. I also just emailed the flyer to Friendship Animal Hospital (DC) and Potomac Animal Hospital (MD).
