Commenting

Have enabled the ability for anyone to comment. Sorry, not the most technical person in the world so I wasn't aware of these wonderful things called "settings" for this blog. Still could use more postering volunteers: 703-593-1040. Also, the Top 10 things on a Rainy Day post should give ideas of things you may be able to do from your Internet, close to home. We'll have a few more ideas tomorrow.

  1. I have printed out your poster/flyer and will take it to my Curves fitness center (Monday) in Falls Church to post on the bulletin board.

Since I am retired, I could help with the search if you give me some tips.

  2. Here is a link with contact info for a local pet detective - maybe he can help. The article is old so I am not sure if he is still in the area or not. http://ritaralston.com/tucky/post.html

  4. I've been watching this blog and hoping for Rocky's return, and wonder if you considered or tried "www.findtoto.com". I've seen them covered in the news and on some newsgroups to which I subscribe. Even if you decide not to use their service they have some tips which might be different from what you've done already.

  5. This last comment from Marnie looks better than the pet detective web site. I would recommend contacting the company and see what they have to offer. I sure hope Rocky makes his way home safely.

  6. From reading the posts it seems he has used that service twice. I heard Carl Washington is very good.

  7. I worked with a girl who lost her dog for about two weeks. I know this may sound crazy, I thought it was too, but someone told her to leave a light on in the house all the time and the person closest to the dog spread their pee all around their yard. The person said that the dog can smell the person's scent. As I said, I know it may sound crazy, but it actually worked. Within a few days, her dog found her way home. She said that the person who told her to do this did it also and their dog came home. It's worth a try.

  8. Friends can share the link to Rocky's blog on their facebook page.

Once posted on your wall, just adjust the size to full via the edit function on the right hand side to get the full size photo of Rocky. Ask friends to share.

  9. I read the same thing about the urine, only I read to sort of leave a trail and the dog will follow the scent all the way back to the home. I don't know how far it is between the current sightings and Rocky's home but it is worth a try...If it were my dog I would pee in a bottle and spill drops all the way back to my home. Whatever helps!!!!!!I read this on many sites so it must be true.

  10. I emailed the Animal Welfare League of Arlington asking them to email their hundreds of volunteers to help find Rocky. Right now I am waitng to hear from them--hopefully they will send an email. I also delivered fliers to AWLA.

Can someone call apartment building managers in Falls Church and Ballston?

Arlington fliers posted: Spot, Java, PetMac, Italian store, Giant VA Sq, Clarendon Metro, Murky coffeehouse.

Falls Church flier posted: E Broad St and Lee in Falls Church

  11. Instead of walking, I am driving around with cell phone at the ready. Plan to call Ravi if I sight Rocky and follow by car hoping to avoid spooking him. This would work better with 2 people so one could jump out if he scoots into backyards and they could stay in contact with the driver. I also have a poster taped to my car's back window.

  12. Have you considered asking the Boy Scouts to organize a search and rescue mission? We could probably stage a coordinated sweep of most of the Falls Church area.

  13. Whew...I can hear a huge sigh of collective relief. Can't wait to meet the little stinker. Wanted to pass on some info on leashes - not sure what type of leash you use but my sister and I have both had dogs slip out of the standard leash clip that you push up and down. The clip that has the metal peice that must be pushed in has proven to be far more secure. Unfortunately about 95% of leashes sold in pet stores have the nonsecure clip so it takes a little looking.
