For those coming tonight or just in general, www.helpfindrocky.com has posters and business cards available for download. The business cards are good to hand to dog walkers, etc. - something they can carry around with them in case they see Rocky. BTW- I do appreciate all the suggestions and I apologize for not being able to respond to all of them. I am willing and have considered trying everything. And actually have tried most and at least researched all.
Hope to see a lot of people out tonight. Call me with questions. I also have posters if you need them.

Praying Rocky is found and home tonight.
ReplyDeleteYou may want to bring an item of clothing (t-shirt, etc.) or bedding (pillowcase) that has your scent on it and leave it after your search (maybe with some food). This may encourage Rocky to return to this spot.
ReplyDeleteWe are praying Rocky returns home safely tonight!! We have emailed friends this link that live in the area as well!!
ReplyDeleteBetween 6:00 - 8:00 pm, we searched the wooded area behind Mt Daniel School and the Highpoint pool. We also canvassed the area sandwiched between 66, Great Falls and Northwest St. We will continue to trace this route daily with our beagles.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were out tonight on the streets mentioned in the blog searching for Rocky calling his name and asking him if he wanted treats. We also posted several more flyers. I know you've tried a pet detective but wasn't sure if this was the one: www.dogsfindingdogs.com
ReplyDeleteAlso, for about $30 www.reportlostpets.com will send alerts to a combination of veterinarians, animal shelters, police stations, media outlets, pet service companies and “neighborhood watch volunteers” in your area, with a description of Rocky, his photo, and details of his whereabouts. It may be worth looking into.
I was also out this evening in the aformentioned streets looking for Rocky. I will look again tomorrow.

We plunked down when we were searching for Chaz, but frankly I haven't the faintest idea whether it was worth the money. reportlostpets doesn't _tell_ you who they send to. Also, be very careful and complete when you fill out what you want to describe, because it looks as though it's a one-shot broadcast, and it can't be changed or added to afterwards.
You can also rent or borrow traps to catch him. Put some clothes with your scent and some smelly foods he likes in the trap (peanut butter, cat food, etc.)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
I walked the area of Williamsburg/Washington St/Underwood/Yucatan/Meridian/N. West St/Brilyn for about an hour tonight, holding an open bag of liverwurst and whistling/calling out "Rocky". I'll be out running early in the morning in the same area and will bring treats again just in case. I'm feeling very hopeful for you & Rocky. Don't give up! :)
ReplyDeleteWe were out for a couple of hours all over the area around East Falls Church, and saw or heard a few others who were also looking for Rocky. No luck but we saw a lot of flyers in the area, so that's good.
ReplyDeleteSearched around EFC Metro (Bishop O'Connell HS, Tuckahoe) around 8pm tonite - will try again tomorrow. Talked to others that had seen flyers and were on the lookout.
ReplyDeleteI was out today between 1-4 pm looking in all the mentioned streets from EFC metro to WFC metro. There were many others out as well w dogs and w/o, all with the same mission. I will be out again tomorrow searching in the same area. Don't give up. You must stay positive. We all believe we are very close to getting Rocky back to you safely, sooner than later!! So while you are at work, know that others are still searching and will continue to do so for as long as it takes.
ReplyDeleteThe dogsfindingdogs.com looks like a great suggestion. I would be willing to donate money toward the cost to use this service. I would assume many others would be willing to do the same to find Rocky. You could establish a paypal account (or something like that) and ask for donations to help fund the effort. Just a suggestion but it may help.
